For this recipe you will need:
- 1/2 cup of melted butter
- 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 3/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup of buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup of Grand Marnier liqueur
- 1/2 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
To get started, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda.
In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, and then stir in the buttermilk, vanilla extract, and Grand Marnier. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips, and pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting onto a cooling rack to cool completely.
Once cooled, you can decorate the cake with your favorite frosting. This Grand Marnier Chocolate Cake is best served the same day it is made, but it can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
