Instructions
Preheat your oven to 140°C (275°F) and line a 9-inch round cake tin with parchment paper.
Beat together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Fold in the self-raising flour, mixed spice, raisins, sultanas, currants, brandy and milk.
Spoon the mixture into the cake tin and scatter over the almonds and mixed peel.
Bake the cake in the oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes, or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
