- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and vanilla. Set aside.
- Add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture, and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle the butter-sugar mixture over the top of the batter.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
